EDUCATOR / WRITER / CREATOR
The values of collaboration, development, community, and communication are the foundation of my professional philosophy. These values direct my practice as a student affairs educator. Click through the slideshow to view examples of how I have made them evident in my work.
This past semester I collaborated with the Women’s Center on a new event called Networking to Next: a 90-minute women’s networking event that connected 40 students with 9 alumnae. I believe successful collaborations with faculty, staff, community partners, and employers are integral to the overall impact of Career Services and resulting student success.
Holistic student development is central to my work in student affairs. As an instructor in EDL 100: Career Development for the College Student, I organized and moderated two 30-minute panels about choosing a major and discovering a career path. This focused on individual development - professionally and personally.
With a Bachelor of Business Administration (marketing) and a minor in communication studies, I value tailored communication and marketing efforts. To increase attendance at student-led workshops, I conducted quantitative and qualitative assessments to delineate a "best time" for workshops. I changed our offerings from Friday afternoons to Tuesday evenings. In addition, I engaged in targeted outreach to student organizations.
